Building the Future Through STEM

We envision a world where every student feels confident in their abilities and secure in their potential to succeed, no matter their background. Geaux Girls STEM inspires the future generation by educating, mentoring, and empowering students to recognize their potential

Geaux Girls STEM seeks to achieve gender and socioeconomic equity in STEM and beyond. We create learning experiences and opportunities for young girls and low-income youth

Why address the Gender Gap in STEM?

Despite the growing efforts to encourage girls to pursue careers in STEM, many young women continue to leave these fields. Studies show that by the time girls reach high school, only 10% express interest in STEM careers, a sharp decline from earlier years. Factors such as a lack of female role models, gender stereotypes, and an unwelcoming culture in STEM environments contribute significantly to this trend. According to a report by the National Science Foundation, women make up only 28% of the STEM workforce, with even lower representation in engineering and computer science.

How We Address the Gap

At Geaux Girls STEM, we address the gender gap in STEM fields by providing targeted educational programs, hands-on workshops, and mentorship opportunities specifically designed for girls  to learn through exploration and self-discovery. Our programs are designed to encourage independent problem-solving while providing guidance and support from our dedicated mentors and volunteers.

Our Sustainable Model

Our sustainable model focuses on fostering long-term interest and engagement in STEM through community partnerships, continuous support, and a scalable framework that adapts to the evolving needs of our participants. We recruit older students from the community to serve as tutors and role models, fostering a culture of peer-led learning and engagement. This approach helps younger participants develop critical thinking skills, and also inspires older students to become changemakers in their communities.
